Download a blank comparison worksheet. Use the same flat, bend and layered-detail setup for each identified reference. Record the conditions and open questions; no invented score or universal winner is required.
Record unequal evidence without creating a false score
Give a physical swatch, a supplier statement and a photograph their own evidence labels. Compare only the observations you can actually make. If one reference lacks a cutting or a current specification, leave that field open and request the missing item before scoring the candidates against the same fixed requirement.
Do not overwrite the first sample when a replacement arrives
Give the new cutting its own entry until its relationship to the first is confirmed. Keep the original labels, observation settings and stated requirements. Record whether the difference is a new identity, a different observation setup or a question still awaiting the supplier's answer.
Finish the revised comparison with the next action for each candidate. Missing information, another physical observation and a planned garment trial are different outcomes. Keeping them separate makes the record useful to the colleague preparing the next sample request, without implying that the highest-rated appearance is an approved production fabric.
