Melton Selection & Sample Tools

Four practical tools turn garment questions into an English brief: find a discussion direction, compare references, plan a detail trial and calculate weight units.

Coat finder

Collect the garment, shape, surface, hard requirements, known specifications and next sample. Unknown reference data is shown as needing confirmation. The tool does not invent stocked articles or match percentages.

Reference comparison

Keep up to three identified references in one common table. The initial catalogue contains one sourced development direction, so a second reference must be supplied before a meaningful side-by-side product comparison is available.

Garment trial planner

Record the detail, goal, face fabric, support materials, pattern version, conditions and observation. A buyer-reviewed record remains a buyer observation. Export it for discussion with the pattern maker and Fred.

Weight converter

Convert GSM and linear mass using an explicit measured width. Calculate mass for an entered total or usable area, preserving that basis. No result estimates garment consumption, freight or thickness.

Shortlist and drafts

Public reference IDs can be kept on this device. Project notes and optional contact details use the current tab's draft with a maximum 12-hour lifetime. Clear the draft whenever you want to remove those saved inputs.

Review and contact

Copy, download or print the complete brief. Email and WhatsApp actions open your application with a summary. Add the complete brief and attachments there, review the message and send it yourself.

Choose the tool from the information you actually have

Use the finder to organise an early project, the converter for known matching quantities and the trial record for an actual or planned construction. A calculated number cannot fill a missing supplier field. If a tool leaves a question unanswered, include that gap in the enquiry instead of entering an assumed value to complete the form.

Use a tool output as a record to review

The comparison and trial tools help organize buyer information; they do not fill missing supplier evidence. Before exporting, check that each reference names the material you actually handled and that an observation is distinguished from a planned trial. A calculator result should retain its input units and width basis. If that basis is uncertain, record the uncertainty rather than treating a precise-looking result as a confirmed article specification.

When a new cutting or reply changes the discussion, retain the earlier export and prepare a revised record with the change explained. Review the text before copying it into your own message. A generated record, a shortlist action and an opened email or WhatsApp link are separate from a sent or received enquiry.
